Jack’s first job in radio was a summer job at KVFC in Cortez, Colorado working part-time for Charlie Russell. Jack began his radio career in Fort Worth at KXOL , as an all-night transmitter engineer in 1958..with a promise from Earle Fletcher of maybe ‘part-time’ air work,‘if or when ‘, etc. In 1959, after hearing that Dave Scribner was looking for a 6 to Midnight jock at KOSA in Odessa, Davy O’Donnell and Bob Schieffer, helped Jack ‘manufacture ‘ an audition tape…. He was hired and he was off and running. From 1959 until 1977 Jack Murray was associated with great radio stations which included KROD in El Paso, KQEO in Albuquerque, KOIL in Omaha, KCWM FM, KFJZ and KXOL in Fort Worth, WAKY in Louisville, KOMA in Oklahoma City and KCLE in Cleburne. Jack was a member of the Charlie and Harrigan Team at KLIF 1190 in Dallas from 1966-67. In 1975 Jack became the General Manager at KITE and KEXL in San Antonio. He owned and managed KHBJ/KHBQ FM and KAKS FM in Amarillo. Since 1993, Jack and his wife, Beth, have owned KDCD FM and KMDX FM in San Angelo. |
