Jody Dean was born in Fort Worth and, fresh
out of high school, headed west for Abilene Christian
University. He chose broadcast radio as a major after
listening to another Texas Radio Hall of Famer, Ron Chapman,
on KVIL-FM. Jody's first broadcast was at the Abilene
Christian University campus radio station and he first
tasted commercial radio success at another station across
town, KEAN.
After working at KPAR in Granbury, Jody's first radio job in the DFW market was at KXOL 1360 in Fort Worth. Then came KLIF Dallas, and finally, he joined KVIL 103.7 FM to became a full-time deejay and, eventually the producer for Ron Chapman's long running morning show. Jody's roles soon expanded. In 1991, he was the executive producer for the Dallas Cowboys Radio Network, and in 1994, he left KVIL FM and moved to 1080 KRLD-AM, where he served as morning co-anchor for eight years, covering on-scene the Oklahoma City Bombing and a destructive tornado that hit Fort Worth, destroying much of the downtown area. An award winning radio and TV personality, he has received an Emmy, and was named "Best Talk Show Host" by the Dallas Business Journal. A two-time winner of the Dallas Press Club's "Katie Award," Jody has been nominated ten times, and has received similar awards from the Texas Associated Press and American Women in Radio and Television. Jody is currently the host of the morning show at 98.7 KLUV-FM in Dallas-Fort Worth, and a news anchor for CBS 11 - KTVT. His co-hosts at KLUV include Kathy Jones, Jonathan Hayes, Mitch Carr and producer Bernie Mack. Jody recently wrote a book, Finding God
in the Evening News, and is a much sought-after
motivational speaker. |
