Kevin
McCarthy was brought to Texas in 1972 by Hall of Famer Ken Dowe to work
for Hall of Famer Gordon McLendon as part of the original staff of KNUS/99
after McLendon sold KLIF. He
was hired by Hall of Famer
Joe Holstead to work for Hall of Famer Mike Shapiro and learned talk radio
at the knee of Hall of Famer Ed Busch at the old WFAA NewsTalk 57 AM in
the late 70s. After
a stint as a sportscaster at KDFW-TV, returned to talk radio at KLIF in
1987. During
his 14 years at KLIF, McCarthy won 5
“Katy” awards for Best Talk-Show in Texas and was selected as
1994’s DFW Radio Personality of the Year by the American Women In
Radio & Television. McCarthy
also spent 20 years as the Voice of Reunion Arena for the Dallas
Mavericks. Kevin is currently the co-host of the “Jerry Reynolds Auto Advice” show on WBAP. His wife Yvonne is a cellist and award-winning digital photographer/artist. They live in a loft in downtown Dallas with their 3 cats. |
